Where Curiosity Comes to Play!

The Curious Explorer Zone is a community third space where children and families explore new interests through joyful, hands-on, identity-rich learning experiences

The Curious Explorer Zone is the Brown Toy Box Foundation's home for joyful, hands-on discovery.

Designed as a community third space for children and families, the Zone creates opportunities to explore new interests through play-based learning, STEAM experiences, storytelling, making, building, experimentation, cultural exploration, and creative expression.

Here, children aren't expected to arrive already knowing what interests them. They are invited to discover.

One visit might introduce a child to robotics. Another might explore gardening, architecture, marine biology, cooking, music, math, storytelling, or design. Each experience is an opportunity to try something new, ask questions, build confidence, and discover another part of who they are becoming.

Our programming includes STEAM Saturdays, Tales & Tinkering for our youngest explorers, workshops, demonstrations, family learning experiences, special guests, field trips, school visits, camps, and community events.

Identity-rich exposure is intentionally woven throughout the experience. Children have opportunities to see themselves reflected in the people, stories, cultures, careers, and possibilities they encounter while also discovering worlds beyond their own.

And access is fundamental to the model.

Many Curious Explorer Zone experiences are offered to families at no cost through the support of philanthropic, corporate, and community partners.

Because we believe cost should never be the barrier that keeps a child from an experience that could spark curiosity, build confidence, or open the door to a new possibility.

Explore. Equip. Become.

The Curious Explorer Zone gives children the space to do all three. families.
